nojoke dont get emotional. we have no bone to pick with either obama or mcccain. We are talking about who is better for eb immigrants, so either you talk about what obama can offer or has offered to eb immigrants, unfortunately you cannot because obama is anti eb immigrants, so you are spewing the democratic talking points here and changing the topic. Do you all ever wonder why 1996 to 2000 was great and the economy never went to quite the 2000 levels? It is because of useless wars and getting the job shipped to other countries. The economy will continue to go down, while there will be another Iran war to turn the attention from problems with economy. We need someone who can think clear and be steady. Moreover it is during the democratic president that immigration got relaxed. At one point the H1 quota was raised to 200 thousand. It takes 8 or more years to get green card under republican rule. It wasn't the case during clinton years. Before you say that it is the house/senate that decides immigration policies, republican had control from 2000 to 2006. What has been done that has our chances improved?

There are 2.7 million Indian americans in the U.S and 9.3 Chinese Americans.
You do the math.

What i would say is that if folks from a particular country is getting 'edge' in numbers , then the diversity axe should be applied. In that sense i was wondering whether the country quota applied is 'fair' ( i know what is fair is determined by the country which made the rules/laws/practices . ) to India,China .

Personally, I could care less about voting, I just want the ability to have my green card on a shorter time scale!

Time and again I am telling. EB 3 problem is due to 245(i) cases. Once 245(i) primaries are over, their dependent will come into the picture, who are waiting back home. All 245(i) cases have PD before April 2001. For time being, EB3 I or Mexico move beyond April 01 but again retrogress back to the April 01 when cases are accumulate at CP. This is the reason why EB3 I and Mexico is not moving since last many years.
If some one is not convince with me, request under FOIA
1. How many cases filed under 245(i) in India, Mexico, and ROW
2. How many cases filed under I 824 Follow to Join since 2007?

if there is enough of a stink made over this, the law could be changed to get back the 'lost' numbers.... laws are there to cater to needs of the situation at hand anc can be changed. IV, AILA and the ombudsman are doing a great job in helping bring about a change in the law. even if congress decides to allow reclaiming of the numbers lost since 1992, there could be an end to this problem for the forseeable future until SKIL or another version of "the grand bargain" comes to the table.
I applied for 140/485 concurrently in August 2004 before IV existed. I can tell you first hand that IV has made a HUGE difference. Our voice is being heard above the din of mostly bigoted and ignorant comments by right wing radicals and liberals that only care about illegals/unskilled workers.
I am sick of the narrow minded comments of a lot of people that post here that only care about their particular scenario and dont take the bigger picture into account. We are all in this together and we will succeed only as a combined front and not as bickering individuals.

I carnt make it to the DC Rally, as i am in the UK, but this morning i sent the Channel 4 News desk an email explaining our plight in the hope that they might cover the DC rally and get you guys some air time, i also sent the same email to the ITN news desk, so you never know you might be on TV over here.

Congratulations...did you get the client letter to satisfy the new Employer-Employee relationship requirement. Was your H1B approved for just the duration of the project.
I gave purchase order between my employer and vendor. I prepared a letter with description of dutied and give it to lawyer, told him to attach it with the application. No RFEs approved in 15 days. I still need to receive I94 , so dont know how many years its approved.
How can I get client letter before I join in a project?.Its not extension. It is impossible to get letter from client. If you say to the client I need letter because I need it for H1 transfer, they will say 'sorry, we will look for another candidate'..

I am not sure if I am missing something, but going through the document, it looks like the bill is for legals and illegals alike. It does not mention that you have to be illegal to qualify for permanent residence, just that you should have been in the US for 5 years. This allows for casual/innocent absence, not sure what that means though.
The only loophole I see in the statment is that it says that DHS may change status to legal resident, meaning that it could be restricted by the DHS in any way they like.

My EB2 PD is Octo'2005 & receipt date of I-485 is Aug'17 2007 (receipt date on the receipt received from USCIS)to NSC(although online it shows first Aug'2007 & now October'2007). NSC online update shows Aug 10'2007. What are the chances that my application will be processed in Aug'2008? I received a soft LUD on 07/03/2008 on my I-485/ead/travel document but nothing after that.
